A place to live

Palm trees and the bay seen from the main house

Seahorse Point is more than a place for a holiday. The property is a self-sufficient home on ten acres of private land on Isla Bastimentos, where the rainforest meets the Caribbean Sea, in one of the richest areas of nature in the Americas.

A self-sufficient island home

  • Solar power with lithium battery storage, with backup generators for emergencies. Read about the power systems.
  • Rainwater collected from the roofs, with more than 20,000 litres of storage, then filtered by ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis for safe drinking water. Read about the water systems.
  • Botanic gardens, a plant nursery and a food forest with tropical fruit, cacao and coconut. See the food forest.
  • A small farm with raised beds for vegetables and herbs, and a pond with fish.
  • A main house with four double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all en suite, plus a swimming pool, the Yellow House, the Seagrass Café, a workshop, docks and an education centre.

A stable climate and rich nature

Bocas del Toro lies south of the main Caribbean hurricane belt and enjoys warm weather throughout the whole year. From the house you can watch sloths in the trees, dolphins in the bay and seahorses among the mangrove roots, while coral reefs and the national marine park lie only a short paddle away.
